CHICAGO, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Jim Campbell and enforcer Bob Probert scored their first goals of the season Thursday night as the Chicago Blackhawks handed the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche their second loss in 17 games, 3-1.
With just four assists between them in 44 games, Campbell and Probert provided some unlikely offense for the Blackhawks.
Campbell, who had just one assist in eight games since being recalled from the minors, opened the scoring just 92 seconds into the contest.
Probert, one of the toughest players in the NHL, made it 2-0 8:53 into the middle period.
After Steven Reinprecht scored Colorado's lone goal early in the third period, Eric Daze sealed the victory for Chicago with an empty-net tally with 34 seconds remaining.
One night after Patrick Roy recorded his 500th career win, David Aebischer started in goal for the Avalanche and stopped 19 shots. Colorado fell to 12-2-3 since November 21.
