TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- With the status of kicker Martin Gramatica in doubt, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday signed kicker Doug Brien to a one-year contract.

Tampa Bay was in need of a kicker with Gramatica questionable for Saturday's game against the Baltimore Ravens due to a right hamstring injury.

An eight-year veteran, Brien has connected on 145-of-181 field goal attempts in his career while kicking for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints. He was with New Orleans from 1994-2000 and the Niners from 1994-95.
