Seattle 29, Dallas 3

SEATTLE, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Ricky Watters rushed for 104 yards on 28 carries and a one-yard touchdown Sunday as the Seattle Seahawks recorded a 29-3 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the first meeting between the teams here since 1983.

The win moved the Seahawks (7-6) back into second place in the AFC West and they trail the New York Jets (8-5) by one game in the battle for the third and final wild card spot.

Watters, who returned to action in last Sunday's loss at Denver, was named the starter over Shaun Alexander by coach Mike Holmgren during the week despite tallying just 23 yards on six carries last week.

The 10-year veteran opened the scoring 4:43 into the game, diving into the end zone for his fifth rushing touchdown in eight games against Dallas (4-9).

The Seahawks improved to 15-1 since 1997 when they have a running back rush for at least 100 yards.

It was the first time Dallas receiver Joey Galloway had returned to Seattle since he was traded by the Seahawks to the Cowboys following the 1999 season for a pair of first-round picks. Galloway asked for the trade after sitting out eight games due to a contract dispute.

The seventh-year receiver, who was booed by the crowd throughout the game, had seven catches for 82 yards.

Dallas leads the series, 5-2 and lost for the first time since November 1986.
