Anaheim 3, NY Rangers 2

NEW YORK, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim cashed in on two of their club record-tying 11 power plays and snapped a nine-game winless streak Sunday night with a 3-2 victory over the undisciplined new York Rangers.

The Rangers have handed opponents 11 power plays in each of the last two games, losing both on the heels of an 8

0-1 run that vaulted them to the top of the Eastern Conference.

Washington went three for 11 with the man advantage in Friday's 6-2 win over New York.

The Ducks scored a pair of power-play goals in the second period and built a 3-0 lead that proved too much for the Rangers, who fought back on goals by Mark Messier and Petr Nedved.

New York had its chances to tie it in the final minute, but could not put the equalizer past Steve Shields, who made 33 saves in Anaheim's first win since Oct. 24.

Marty McInnis, Kevin Sawyer and Paul Kariya scored for the Ducks, who had lost six straight games and were 0-7-2 in their previous nine.

Sawyer, who leads the league in penalty minutes, scored his first NHL goal 8:49 into the second period to make it 2-0.
