Montreal 5, Washington 3

MONTREAL, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Making his Molson Centre debut as a member of the Canadiens, Donald Audette picked up a goal and an assist Saturday night to lead Montreal to a 5-3 victory over the Washington Capitals.

A native of nearby Laval, Quebec, Audette came to the Canadiens on Wednesday as part of a four-player trade with the Dallas Stars. The 32-year-old right wing has collected at least one point in each of his two games with Montreal.

On Saturday night, Audette scored the eventual game-winner by finishing off a flurry of shots midway through the third period, doubling Montreal's lead to 4-2. He also helped set up Yanic Perreault's power-play goal that snapped a second-period tie.

Jose Theodore made 29 saves for his seventh win as the Canadiens extended their winning streak to four games. They also have won five in a row at home, matching their longest streak from last season.

Washintgton took a 1-0 lead 2:06 into the first period, but the Canadiens rallied on goals by Jan Bulis, Perreault and Brian Savage.

Peter Bondra and Jaromir Jagr also scored for the Capitals, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Jagr collected his fourth consecutive mutli-point game with a goal and an assist.

Olaf Kolzig stopped 39 shots, but fell below .500 at 9-10-1.
