IRVING, Texas, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- The Dallas Cowboys Wednesday placed kicker Tim Seder on injured reserve with a badly sprained right ankle and signed Jon Hilbert to replace him.

Hilbert was in training camp with New Orleans this summer before being released.

The injury-plagued Cowboys have lost their last two games to fall into a tie for last place in the NFC East with a 2-6 record.

Seder converted 11 of 17 field goals and all 12 of his extra points for 45 points this season. He was injured while running down an errant snap on a 37-yard field-goal attempt in Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The man who snapped the ball, Randy Chevrier, was cut from the roster Wednesday.

Hilbert competed during the 2000 offseason with Seder and Rian Lindell for two training camp spots. Hilbert was released prior to camp, but did go to camp with Buffalo, kicking a 36-yard field goal in preseason.

Hilbert went to camp this summer with New Orleans and kicked a 28-yard field goal against the Cowboys in a preseason game.

The Cowboys are also without linebacker Dexter Coakley, who will be sidelined from two-to-four weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee suffered on Sunday.
