Pacheco keeps flyweight title

SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Irene Pacheco of Colombia showed no rust in his first fight in a year as he maintaned his IBF flyweight title Friday night with a fourth-round technical knockout of local favorite Mike Trejo.

Pacheco (26-0, 20 KOs) was fighting for the first time since posting a debatable majority decision over Masibulele Makepula in Las Vegas on Nov. 10, 2000 and made his fourth straight title defense.

The 5-6 Pacheco used his reach advantage and also was able to get inside to wear down Trejo (27-2-2, 16 KOs) with body punches over the first three rounds.

Midway through the fourth, Pacheco backed Trejo into a corner and pounded him with several shots to the body before connecting with a couple of hooks to the chin. Trejo went down and, after getting up slowly, the fight was stopped at 1:45 of the fourth
