Daly, Lickliter lead Shootout

NAPLES, Fla., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- John Daly and Frank Lickliter teamed to produce a 59 Saturday and take the lead after Saturday's second round of the Franklin Templeton Shootout.

Scores are always low in the best-ball format and Daly and Lickliter did not disappoint. they combined for 13 birdies to move to 19-under 125, one shot better than defending champions Brad Faxon and Scott McCarron.

"That was just a lot of fun," said Daly, who has had a career renaissance this year. "Nothing went wrong. We made a couple of long putts."

"It was a lot of fun," Lickliter said. "Birdies are fun."

Sunday's format will be a scramble, which should make for a wild finish. Eight teams are within eight shots of the lead, a margin that can be made up very quickly in a scramble format.

"I left a few shots out there, (but) I still like our chances in a scramble," said McCarron, who teamed with Faxon for 10 birdies and a 62.
