Nashville 4, Edmonton 2

EDMONTON, Alberta, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Vladimir Orszagh snapped a tie at 9:20 of the third period and the Nashville Predators halted a four-game winless streak with a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers Monday night.

Bill Houlder took a pass from Karlis Skrastins in the neutral zone on a 3-on-2 break. Orzsagh got the puck at the right wing and skated to the top of the right faceoff circle where he fired a slap shot inside the left goalpost for his third goal and a 3-2 lead.

Kimmo Timonen gave the Predators a two-goal lead with his first goal of the season 1:52 later. Cliff Ronning had the puck behind the Edmonton net and sent a pass to the left point where Timonen beat goaltender Tommy Salo to the stick side.

Mike Dunham made 24 saves for Nashville, which was 0-3


1 in its previous four games.

Anson Carter and Georges Laraque scored for Edmonton, which went 0-for-6 on the power play.
