Milwaukee 92, Denver 82

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Tim Thomas scored 22 points and Ray Allen and Sam Cassell each added 13 as the Milwaukee Bucks controlled the second half Monday night en route to a 92-82 preseason victory over the Denver Nuggets.

Thomas made 7-of-17 shots from the floor and 6-of-7 free throws for the Bucks, who outscored Denver, 53-43, in the second half.

Allen made just 3-of-11 shots but dished out nine assists before leaving with a cut under his eye with 21 seconds left in the third quarter.

Milwaukee scored the first eight points of the third quarter for a 47-39 lead. Cassell scored seven in the final eight minutes and nailed a jumper to give the Bucks their biggest third-quarter lead, 67-56, with 1:52 to go.

Thomas' 3-pointer with 6:47 remaining in the game gave Milwaukee its biggest lead, 83-68, and the Nuggets never got closer than seven the rest of the way.

Jason Caffey had 12 points and seven rebounds and Michael Redd added 11 and six for the Bucks, who shot just 42 percent (34-of-81) from the floor but committed only 13 turnovers.

Milwaukee's Glenn Robinson was sidelined with sore ankles and Scott Williams did not play with a sore back. Darvin Ham sat out with a sore right ankle and Ervin Johnson did not play due to a sprained left ankle.

George McCloud led Denver with 12 points and Raef LaFrentz and Zendon Hamilton each added 10. James Posey and Isaiah Rider each chipped in with eigth points for the Nuggets, who committed 19 turnovers and shot 40 percent (29-of-72).
