SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Manny Lagos collected a goal and two assists Sunday night as the San Jose Earthquakes forced a decisive third game in their MLS Cup semifinal series with a 4-0 rout of the Miami Fusion.

Miami hosts Game 3 on Wednesday, but will be without two key players after forward Diego Serna and defender Ivan McKinley received red cards. San Jose defender Zak Ibsen also was ejected and will miss the decisive contest.

Game 2 was much like the opener with plenty of physical play. McKinley was a target of whistles and boos all night after marking All-Star Landon Donovan in Game 1. Donovan scored the winning goal and added an assist, padding his league-leading total to 10 points.

In the 16th minute, San Jose pressed the advantage and scored off of a defensive miscue. Lagos collected a ball hastily cleared from the penalty area and slipped a short pass toward Donovan in the penalty arc. The 19-year-old spun to face the goalmouth and unleashed an accurate right-footed shot past goalkeeper Nick Rimando.

The 'Quakes dominated the flow following the goal with Donovan serving as the main distributor on the attack. In the 20th minute, he sent the ball wide to a rushing Ronald Cerritos on the right side. Cerritos launched a shot, but Rimando rushed off his line to challenge and made the save.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men in the 24th minute, when Serna and Ibsen were ejected following an incident during an aerial challenge in the Earthquakes' defensive end. With 10 men a side, Spartan Stadium's narrow field opened considerably, allowing for more free-flowing attacks on both sides.

Serna's red card was his second of the postseason.

The 'Quakes doubled the lead on midfielder Ian Russell's goal in the 57th minute. He took the ball from Lagos on the left side of the penalty area and was given too much room by defender Brian Dunseth, curling a shot into the top corner of the net for his first playoff point.

San Jose continued to press, using the extra space to score again in the 69th minute. Richard Mulrooney scooped the ball over the back line to Lagos, who beat the offside trap and fired a hard, low shot to the right goalpost, easily beating Rimando for a 3-0 lead.

Tempers flared late in the second half, prompting a second red card ejection for the Fusion. McKinley piled into Donovan from behind in the 74th minute, drawing an ejection.

Second-half substitute Dwayne DeRosario capped the rout in the closing seconds. He went straight at the Fusion defense in the 89th minute, dribbling to the left of the box past defender Carlos Llamosa. Sidestepping Rimando, he launched a left-footed shot into an open net, just inside the left post.
