Brolken leg sidelines Morgan

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Rookie Carolina linebacker Dan Morgan will be sidelined for four to six weeks with a broken left leg, the Panthers announced Monday.

Morgan suffered the injury after he was stiff-armed to the ground by Brett Favre as the quarterback was scrambling in the second quarter of Carolina's 28-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers Sunday.

An MRI taken revealed that Morgan fractured his left tibia.

The 11th overall pick and the first linebacker selected in the NFL draft in April, Morgan immediately moved in as the Panthers'starting weakside linebacker and was entrusted with calling the defensive signals. He had 13 tackles in Carolina's first three games.
