Simon wins Moselle Open in home country

METZ, France, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Gilles Simon won his seventh career ATP singles title with a straight-set victory Sunday over Mischa Zverev at the Moselle Open in France.

Simon gave his home country fans a reason to cheer with the 6-3, 6-2 win in just 67 minutes. He improved to 7-2 in ATP singles finals in winning his first tournament since Sept. 28, 2009, in Thailand.

Simon unleashed six of his match total of nine aces in the second set when he lost only four points in four games. He lost 10 points on serve in the match and saved the only break-point situation he faced.

It was the first ATP finals appearance for Zverev, who is in his fourth year as a professional.
