Army contracts for Apache TADS support

ORLANDO, Fla., July 15 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin has received a contract to continue providing the U.S. Army's AH-64 Apache helicopters with modernization and support for night-vision sensors.

U.S. company Lockheed Martin was awarded the performance-based logistics contract that officials say has a potential value of $89 million for the company in 2009.

As part of the contract Lockheed Martin will continue to provide Target Acquisition Designation Sight, or TADS, Pilot Night Vision Sensor support, modernization and reliability improvements on the Apache helicopter.

"Performance based logistics is a strategy for system product support that employs an integrated, affordable performance package designed to optimize system readiness," Dave Belvin, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Apache TADS and support programs director, said in a statement.
