TSA deploys canine teams to Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla., June 29 (UPI) -- The Transportation Security Administration has deployed two explosives detection canine teams in Florida following the successful completion of training.

The TSA says it deployed the advanced canine teams to Orlando International Airport to provide explosive threat detection capabilities at the airport's air cargo facilities.

The canine teams, which recently completed a 10-week training course at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, mark the second deployment of canine teams to Florida following the deployment of teams to Miami International Airport as part of an ongoing effort to increase security at U.S. airlines.

"Canine teams are one of the quickest, most efficient means of detecting explosives," John Daly, Orlando federal security director, said in a statement.

"The two new TSA teams provide flexibility in searching air cargo and the ability to surge resources in other modes of transportation."
