Telephonics awarded LM radar deal

FARMINGDALE, N.Y., March 19 (UPI) -- U.S. company Lockheed Martin has contracted Telephonics Corp. for the company to supply radar support for MH-60R multi-mission helicopters.

New York-based Telephonics said its radar-systems division was awarded the contract from Lockheed Martin. The $9.5 million deal will fund the long-lead purchase of subsystem spares for the AN/APS-147 Multi-Mode Radar and the Identification Friend or Foe Interrogator System.

The AN/APS-147 Multi-Mode Radar technology is integrated with the U.S. Navy's MH-60R multi-mission helicopters to counter threats from enemy submarines and surface vessels.

"The AN/APS-147 Multi-Mode Radar is an outstanding system that will bring unprecedented mission performance and brand new capabilities to the U.S. Navy's rotary wing community," Joseph Battaglia, Telephonics president, said in a statement.
