Ceradyne, based in California, received a $25.1 million order from the Army Research, Development and Engineering Command at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland as part of a foreign military sales requirement.

Under the deal, Ceradyne will supply the foreign military sales order with its small arms protective insert lightweight ceramic body armor.

"We are very pleased to receive this foreign military sales body armor order," David Reed, Ceradyne president of North American operations, said in a statement.

"We believe that the government placed this order with Ceradyne, at least in part, due to its reliable delivery and quality performance on previous small arms protective inserts procurements."
