DANBURY, Conn., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Solomon Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:SOLM) has been contracted by the U.S. military to supply power technologies for a new vehicle-launched ordnance system.

Connecticut-based Solomon Technologies, a developer of precision electric power drive systems and other electrical technologies, was awarded a phase III deal by the military for additional power supplies supporting a next-generation vehicle launch ordnance system. Company officials say their Technipower unit will perform work on the contract.

The new vehicle launch ordnance technologies are part of an effort to replace an older ordnance system with a modern platform.

"Having initially proven our ability to understand, design and produce advanced high-energy charging power supplies for military applications, our customer has expanded the breadth of its applications with a new variation of the technology," Peter DeVecchis, president of Solomon Technologies, said in a statement.

"The primary challenges for our customer were weight and cost reduction as the project moves to volume production."
