Virginia-based Cornet Technology was awarded the development deal to support an initiative by the San Diego-based Navy Space and Warfare Systems Center to implement new GPS technologies for selective-availability anti-spoof module compliance requirements.

The Navy GPS upgrade to the anti-spoof module requirements was mandated by a presidential directive to "improve the United States' ability to deny enemy use of any space-based positioning, navigation and timing services without excessively interrupting commercial and civil uses," the release said.

Under the contract, Cornet Technology will further develop maritime embedded GPS system adapters for the SPAWAR Systems Center. Officials say the maritime embedded GPS system adapters are integrated as the host for the GPS receivers.
