ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has awarded CACI International Inc. a follow-on contract for the company's continued support of night vision and sensor technologies.

CACI received a $36 million deal from the Army's Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate to continue support of the Modeling and Simulation Division. Under the deal CACI will support the NVESD's Modeling and Simulation Division with simulation applications for more realistic military training.

NVESD is the night vision and sensor research division of the Army responsible for developing infrared weapon sights and surveillance systems, among other night and limited-visibility technologies.

Officials say CACI's simulation software under development will include high-resolution three-dimensional graphics for realistic training on ground and air vehicles, among other applications.

"CACI is proud to continue our support for the U.S. Army's Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate in the technologies our company was founded upon -- modeling and simulation," Bill Fairl, CACI president of U.S. operations, said in a statement.

"We offer leading-edge solutions and services that ensure timely and effective modeling and simulation support for training and technology development."
