The $18.1 million contract is from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Afghan Engineering District. Under the deal, DynCorp will construct facilities to support the Afghanistan Police Patrol Unit Brigade Headquarters and Patrol Battalion in Garmser in the volatile Helmand province.

The police facilities, expected to be constructed in less than a year, will include "offices, living and operational facilities, motor pool, guard towers and a perimeter wall," the release said.

The Army Corps of Engineers contract follows several construction projects that DynCorp has managed, including Afghan army garrisons in Jalalabad and Kunduz. Officials say 305 police personnel will operate from the new headquarters.
