Northrop Grumman officials say its Sperry Marine business unit received a contract for the company's integrated navigation technologies from Australian company Tenix.

Under the $8.4 million deal, Northrop Grumman will supply its suite of navigation systems and sensors, including its MK39 Mod 3A ring laser gyro navigator, for integration with two new Royal Australian Navy Canberra-class amphibious assault ships.

"This important award solidifies Sperry Marine's position as a key supplier of advanced navigation technology for the Australian navy as well as other international navies and coast guard forces," Nolasco DaCunha, Sperry Marine vice president, said in a statement.

Officials say as part of the contract, Northrop Grumman will also provide engineering and technical support.
