TRUMBULL, Conn., July 24 (UPI) -- The Colombian air force has contracted Connecticut-based Helicopter Support Inc. for extended-range aircraft fuel tanks.

Under the deal, HSI, a Sikorsky Aerospace Services company, will supply 12 of the aircraft fuel tanks for installation in Bell Huey II helicopters. The fuel tanks are manufactured by Arizona-based Robertson Aviation LLC.

Robertson recently formed an agreement with HSI for the distribution of their fuel tanks to non-U.S. government customers. Officials say the Colombian air force contract marks the first deal under the new arrangement.

"This sale … reflects the rapid expansion of Sikorsky Aerospace Services' portfolio of global solutions," Adam Schierholz, Sikorsky Aerospace Services' business development and strategic planning manager, said in a statement.

"We continue to increase our capacity to support aircraft made by more manufacturers and to do so with parts and equipment made by still other producers. In the aircraft aftermarket business, we are becoming the line that connects all the dots."
