ARLINGTON, Va., July 23 (UPI) -- U.S. Homeland Security Department officials have selected Polimatrix to provide threat-detection technology during the Golden Phoenix terrorism training event.
Polimatrix, a subsidiary of Virginia-based Homeland Security Capital Corp. (OTCBB:HMSC), has deployed its radiation and nuclear detection and identification systems in support of the four-day terrorism training exercise Operation Golden Phoenix.
The Golden Phoenix exercise, taking place through Thursday in San Diego, is an initiative through the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Marine Corps Aircraft Group-46 and San Diego security authorities to test emergency response readiness.
Polimatrix officials are participating in the event in an effort to demonstrate their threat-detection technologies for future support of emergency response teams in the field.
"We are excited and honored to be one of the companies chosen to participate in this premier event," Thomas McMillen, Homeland Security Capital Corp. chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"These training events are critical in establishing a coordinated response to both natural and terrorism disasters, and we are pleased to have this opportunity to demonstrate our radiation and nuclear detection technologies."
