PORTLAND, Ore., June 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Marine Corps has placed a $3 million order with LaCrosse Footwear Inc. (NASDAQ:BOOT) subsidiary Danner for mountain cold weather boots.

Oregon-based LaCrosse says the order to supply the Marines with 19,000 pairs of the ruggedized footwear marks the largest delivery order from an original 2006 mountain cold weather boot contract.

Danner, a provider of performance footwear for the U.S. military, says the shipments of the boots are scheduled for the second half of 2008.

"Danner is known for building exceptional footwear for more than 75 years," Joseph Schneider, LaCrosse Footwear president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"The Marines depend on us to deliver quality footwear, outstanding customer service and on-time delivery. We're proud to support the dedicated men and women in uniform with premium performance footwear."
