WAKEFIELD, Mass., May 30 (UPI) -- Implant Sciences Corp. (AMEX:IMX) has been contracted to supply portable explosives detection technology to one of its distributors in China.

Implant Sciences says it received multiple orders for its trademarked Quantum Sniffer QS-H150 from its China-based distributor Beijing Ritchie's Time Co. Officials say $2.7 million worth of the company's Quantum Sniffer technology is for transportation and facility security at various locations in China.

Implant Sciences says its Quantum Sniffer is a low-maintenance portable explosives detection system that doesn't utilize radioactive materials for processing. As a result, certifications and licensing among other mandated requirements on the system are not required.

"We are excited about our continuing expansion in the explosives trace detection market in China," Richard Meyerhoff, Implant Sciences vice president of worldwide sales and service, said in a statement.

"Our QS-H150 product line was developed to provide customers portable technology for the detection of a wide range of explosives materials within challenging operating environments."
