JERICHO, N.Y., May 13 (UPI) -- Jericho, N.Y.-based Telephonics Corp. says it has been contracted to support the U.S. Navy's MH-60R multi-mission helicopters with radar technologies.

Telephonics, a developer of communication and radar technologies for military and commercial applications, was contracted by Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) Systems Integration-Owego for $64.6 million to support the Navy's MH-60R helicopters.

Under the follow-on deal, Telephonics will supply additional identification friend or foe interrogator systems and its AN/APS-147 multi-mode radars to Lockheed Martin for deployment on the MH-60R. Officials say Telephonics' MMR technology provides littoral and maritime domain awareness to the MH-60R and its host ship.

"The AN/APS-147 MMR is an outstanding system that will bring unprecedented mission performance and brand new capabilities to the U.S. Navy's rotary wing community," Joseph Battaglia, Telephonics president, said in a statement. "We look forward to a long and successful program supporting Lockheed Martin and the U.S Navy."
