OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 2 (UPI) -- Kansas based-Digital Ally has launched a new surveillance camera that is activated automatically by a law enforcement vehicle's abrupt operational changes.

Digital Ally, a developer of video surveillance technologies for the law enforcement and homeland security market among other security outlets, says its new DVM-250 Pro video surveillance camera will automatically record and store audio and video during an emergency response incident. Officials say the new camera activates if there is an abrupt change in acceleration or other violent maneuvers to automatically record the event.

Additionally the new DVM-250 Pro records a 30-second loop to ensure that the cause of the event is captured.

"Uses of (incident) recorders include driver training, personal protection and monitoring, protection against liability and workman's compensation claims, and personal documentation of events," Stanton Ross, Digital Ally chief executive officer, said in a statement. "In the aggregate, we believe the market for event recorders in the transportation industry is larger than the law enforcement market that we have targeted so successfully with our DVM-500."
