MCLEAN, Va., March 11 (UPI) -- Virginia-based Mikoh Corp. announced the release of a new radio frequency identification technology for securing the shipment of sensitive government cargo.

Company officials announced the launch of the new Smart&Secure Transport. Mikoh says that the new offering meets stringent government RFID requirements and combines the company's SecureContainer and SecureEnclosure with the company's patented Smart&Secure platform. Officials say the Smart&Secure Transport is an effort to offer potential government clients asset protection of sensitive cargo including classified documents or shipments of weapon technologies.

"Mikoh is known throughout the government market for its unique ability to solve RFID physical security issues," Andrew Strauch, Mikoh vice president of marketing and product management, said in a statement. "With Smart&Secure Transport, government organizations can be certain that critical assets, such as weapons and classified documents, remain uncompromised without physically monitoring the assets every step of the way."

Based on intellectual property licensed from the U.S. National Security Agency, the Smart&Secure Transport secures sensitive cargo from tampering, counterfeiting and fraud with a "tamper-evident seal that disables RFID functionality if tampering occurs. A functioning RFID tag indicates the asset has not been compromised," the release said.

"The MIKOH Federal Practice continues to deliver tailored solutions that meet specific requirements for government organizations," Strauch said.
