OSHKOSH, Wis., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Corp. announced it has named a new president of its fire and emergency subsidiary JerrDan Corp.

Company officials announced the appointment of Michael Walter as JerrDan's new president. Walter will be responsible for the business unit's strategy, performance and growth for the company's wreckers and carriers brand.

"We are pleased to bring Mike in with his extensive operations, manufacturing and business development experience," Thomas Fenner, Oshkosh fire and emergency group president, said in a statement. "We believe Mike will be able to make significant contributions to further enhance JerrDan's industry-leading reputation by accelerating innovation, improving responsiveness to customer needs and creating a lean production focus."

Oshkosh, developer of a broad range of specialty access equipment including emergency response and military vehicles, announced that Walter will replace retiring president Jeff Weller.

"After more than 38 years with JerrDan, Jeff Weller is retiring as president," Fenner said. "He led the business through a tremendous growth period, and we appreciate his many years of service."
