Police analyzing mobile records in Madeleine McCann disappearance

LONDON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- British police said they are investigating the mobile phone records of people in the Portuguese village where little Madeleine McCann disappeared in 2007.

Scotland Yard detectives said they're analyzing data from thousands of phones of people in Praia de Luz, Algarve, where McCann's family was vacationing at the time of her disappearance. They said there are 41 potential suspects.

"This is not just a general trawl," said Detective Chief Inspector Redwood, whose first name wasn't reported. "It's a targeted attack on that data to see if it assists us to find out what happened to Madeleine McCann at that time."

Madeleine was days away from her third birthday in 2007 when she vanished from her family's holiday apartment in a beach resort. Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, both doctors in Leicestershire, were eating dinner with friends at a nearby restaurant where they could see the window of the apartment from their table.
