NEW YORK, July 26 (UPI) -- Anthony Weiner says he had cybersex with at least three women after he resigned from the U.S. congress in a sexting scandal.

"I don't believe I had any more than three," Weiner, now a candidate for New York mayor, said during a campaign stop in Brooklyn, the New York Post reported Friday.

Weiner said he sexted "six to 10" women while in office, "but I can't tell you absolutely what someone else is going to consider appropriate or not."

While there were "multiple women over an extended period of time," he said, "it's not dozens and dozens."

The mayoral candidate denied being a virtual sex addict, but claimed he was still "working with people" to deal with the problem.

He termed as "background noise" calls for him to drop out of the mayor's race.

The incidents are "behind me," Weiner said. "Now citizens have to decide whether this personal behavior -- when one thing happened or it didn't happen -- is important to them."
