DALLAS, April 26 (UPI) -- AT&T says it has begun taking orders for its new home automation system in 15 cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and New York.
Almost a year after announcing its Digital Life home automation and security system, AT&T has announced pricing for the various packages that make up the system, PC World reported Friday.
The baseline Simple Security plan costs $30 per months plus $150 installation and equipment fees that will provide 24/7 home monitoring, a 24-hour battery backup, a key chain remote, sensors and an indoor siren.
Options available for a higher monthly price include sensors for motion, carbon monoxide, glass breaks and smoke.
All security and automation features of the Digital Life system can be controlled through a web browser or through apps for iOS, Android, and Windows phones, AT&T said.
AT&T will be competing in the home automation and security arena with Verizon, which offers its own system for $10 a month and a $90 installation fee, although its basic package has fewer features than that of AT&T, PC world said.
