Bedroom viewing habits said changing

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., March 20 (UPI) -- Smartphones and tablets are becoming more popular than television sets for viewing video in the bedroom, a U.S. survey indicates.

A survey by Motorola Mobility of 9,500 people in 17 countries found "consumers are watching an enormous amount of video, in some surprising ways, in unexpected places," CNN reported Wednesday.

Forty-six percent of respondents said they've watched video on their smartphones in the bedroom, and 41 percent said they've used their tablets for viewing.

Television sets, the traditional device for late-night bedroom viewing, came in third at 36 percent.

Consumers have come to desire more flexibility in how and where they watch movies and TV shows, Motorola Mobility executive John Burke said.

"They want to be firmly in control of the way they experience their videos, but they're frustrated," he said. "Increasingly, they're using tablets and smartphones to view their content, and they expect this experience to transition seamlessly across their favorite programs, whenever and wherever they like."
