NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. Internet giant Google has sent out invitations for an "Android event" in New York City for Oct. 26, saying, "The playground is open."
Tech sites are weighing in on what they expect Google might unveil, suggesting a 4-inch LG Nexus 4 smartphone, a Nexus 10 tablet with a 2,560-by-1,600 resolution, or an upgraded 4.2 version of the Android operating system dubbed "Key Lime Pie," the successor to 4.1 "Jelly Bean," PC Magazine reported.
Rumors of a $99 Nexus tablet are also making the rounds, the magazine said.
Google has scheduled its event for the same day that Microsoft is set to unveil its Windows Phone 8mobile operating system in San Francisco, although both will be beaten to the post by Apple, which has set an Oct. 23 date for the expected unveiling of its iPad Mini.
