LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- AT&T's iPhone 5 has a feature Verizon and Sprint versions don't offer, tech watchers say; it can make calls and connect to the Internet at the same time.
Purchasers of Apple's new smartphone who go with Verizon and Sprint will find themselves without that particular multitasking feature, The Verge reported Thursday.
The tech site reported a Verizon representative had confirmed the fact, and the Los Angeles Times reported receiving confirmation from Sprint spokeswoman Heather Wong.
However, Wong said, while the Sprint version of the iPhone 5 can't make calls and connect to the Internet at the same time over LTE, people can talk and use the Internet simultaneously if connected over WiFi.
AT&T, Sprint and Verizon have begun taking orders for the iPhone 5, which is to be released Sept. 21.
