SAN FRANCISCO, July 25 (UPI) -- Apple's next iPod Touch media player could share the same tall 4-inch display expected with the next version of the iPhone, a Japanese tech Web site reported.

Japanese blog site Macotakara, citing "Asian sources," said the fifth-generation iPod Touch will offer a four-inch LCD display.

The same sources said the next iPod Touch could be based on the same processor found in the iPhone 4S, which would mean an upgrade from the A4 to the A5 chip, CNET reported.

The sources said the next-generation iPod Touch also has an extra hole on the lower part of the back case, but could offer no clue as to its purpose.

Other changes may include a brushed aluminum case back instead of the current polished stainless steel, and potential customers may be able to choose between black and white models, the Macotakara site said.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities said believes Apple will launch the new iPod Touch in September or October, at the same time as the expected debut of the next iPhone.
