SAN FRANCISCO, April 13 (UPI) -- Noted French designer Philippe Starck says he is working on a "revolutionary" new product for tech giant Apple to be unveiled within the next eight months.

Starck mentioned the project in a radio interview Thursday with France Info but did not reveal any details of the mystery product, PC Magazine reported.

"Indeed, there is a big project together which will be out in eight months," Starck said, a translation obtained by AppleInsider said.

Starck's remarks could add fuel to rumors about a forthcoming Apple television set, AppleInsider said.

The 63-year-old Starck declined to comment further, citing Apple's "religious cult of secrecy."

Starck's design work ranges from interior designs for restaurants and hotels to mass-produced items such as toothbrushes, chairs and alarm clocks.

Peter Misek, an equity analyst with Jefferies, said he saw in a recent trip to Asia "evidence commercial iTV production is starting."

Misek speculated the Apple TV set would go into production in May or June and could officially hit the market during the fourth quarter.
