SEATTLE, April 12 (UPI) -- Amazon says it has added CDs to its trade-in program that will allow owners of old copies of music CDs to turn them in for Amazon gift cards.

Amazon's trade-in offer currently accepts old electronics, textbooks, DVDs, and video games in return for a gift card.

"Amazon is constantly updating the Trade-In Program with new products and through customer feedback we've learned that a lot of customers are interested in trading in their used CDs to upgrade to something new," Amazon's Grace Chung said in an e-mail to Cnet.com's Crave gadget blog.

"Also, the new addition of CDs to the Trade-In Program is a great way for customers to convert and grow their digital music collection. Customers can choose from more than 19 million songs in the Amazon MP3 store," she wrote.

Amazon's CD trade-in offer went live Tuesday, and a copy of a music CD in good shape could bring $3.80 in Amazon credit, Cnet.com said.
