AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The Dutch government granted permission to German utility RWE to build an offshore wind farm off the coast of northern Holland.

RWE said it received final permission from the Dutch Ministry of Transport and Hydraulic Engineering to build the offshore Tromp wind farm.

The company said the wind farm will include 59 wind turbines installed on so-called gravity foundations. The height of the turbines is nearly 500 feet.

The wind farm will generate a total of 300 MW of energy and be situated more than 40 miles off the coast of northern Holland.

Construction of the Tromp wind farm is slated for 2013.
