HOUSTON, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- American engineering and construction company KBR said it won a contract by Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Co. to develop a training program at a phenol plant.

KBR announced a contract to develop and implement an operator training simulator for the Saudi Kayan phenol plant in Saudi Arabia.

The company said it would develop a high-fidelity OTS for introductory and refresher training at the plant.

"KBR is pleased to continue building on our strong relationship with Saudi Kayan for this OTS system implementation," said Tim Challand, president of KBR Technology.

The program uses dynamic models to create a system that simulates the actual behavior of the phenol plant, KBR said.

The goal of the program is to reduce idle time and sustain high performance at the first Saudi phenol plant for Saudi Kayan.
