DENVER, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- American Midstream Partners announced the completion of a $151 million deal to acquire 12 natural gas pipelines and assets from Enbridge Energy Partners.
"We believe that this is a unique opportunity to create a leading company delivering natural gas throughout the southeastern U.S.," said Brian Bierbach, president and chief executive officer of American Midstream Partners.
Bierbach said the focus of the project would be on improving operations of the pipeline network.
"We begin a new chapter for these proven assets with an experienced management team, a strong balance sheet, and a dedicated investment partner," he added.
The assets include two interstate and a network of intrastate natural gas pipelines and processing systems in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.
American Midstream Partners holds a series of pipeline networks throughout the American south.
In addition, the company owns shallow water offshore natural gas systems that carry approximately 250 million cubic feet of gas per day through a network of onshore processing facilities and interstate pipelines.
