YAROSLAVL, Russia, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Gazprom executives met with the leaders of the Yaroslavl Oblast to discuss retention of the present level of gas supplies to the eastern region.

Alexei Miller, the chief executive officer at Gazprom, met with Yaroslavl Oblast Gov. Sergei Vakhrukov to discuss the provisions for gas supplies from 2010.

Russian gas giant Gazprom in 2008 supplied the region with more than 98 billion cubic feet of natural gas with similar levels slated for the current year.

Gazprom said it plans to invest roughly $11 million in gasification for the Yaroslavl Oblast to move forward with the construction of four pipelines totaling 53 miles.

Additional work would focus on the design and exploration of the construction of another three inter-settlement pipelines.

Miller added his company might purchase more equipment from the region following a presentation of their product to the Russian gas giant.
