NEW DELHI, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Indian companies KEC International Ltd. and RPG Transmission Ltd. will build power lines in Tajikistan.

The two companies won a tender to build the electricity transmission lines in Tajikistan that will connect the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power station to Tajikistan's border with Afghanistan, the Khovar news agency reported.

KEC and RPG will build the 118-kilometer electricity transmission line from the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power station to the Afghan town of Pol-e Khomri for $19 million.

The Asian Development Bank and the OPEC fund for international development will allocate money for the project.

Construction is expected to begin in late January.
