Obama expected to change U.S. energy

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The world is watching what U.S. President-elect Barack Obama does on energy.

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore recently announced that Obama's first move should be to make sure the United States gets 10 percent of its energy from renewable energy sources within 10 years, The Guardian reported.

While campaigning, Obama promised to invest $150 billion in renewable energy over 10 years in order to increase U.S. energy security.

Gore's call for action came at the Web 2.0 Summit, one of the tech industry's leading events. He suggested the same Internet technology that aided Obama in the election could aid the U.S. efforts to go green.
