BRUSSELS, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- The Belgium-based European Renewable Energy Council and Greenpeace say nuclear and fossil fuels are unnecessary.

The two environmental organizations released a new study called "Energy (R)evolution: A Sustainable World Energy Outlook."

It suggests that all of the world's energy needs can be met by renewable energy sources by 2090, BusinessGreen.com reported. And by 2050 renewables could be a $360 billion industry with greater investment now.

The study's projections are based on internationally accepted predictions for population and economic growth.

The report suggests that if feed-in tariffs are adopted worldwide, then the 2050 goal and thus the 2090 goal can be met.
