ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The Asian Development Bank will fund power development in Pakistan.

Pakistan's power industry is being taxed by the country's rapidly growing energy demands, Asia Pulse Data Source reported.

The Asian Development Bank will fund $810 million in financing over 10 years to expand the nation's energy grid and rebuild some of its aging infrastructure. Currently customers experience intermittent outages and there is a lot of loss as the energy travels over the transmission system.

Pakistan's government said the country has been experiencing both growth in demand for electricity at the same time leaders are trying to expand electricity to rural areas. The funding will help with both issues.
