ESSEN, Germany, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Germany's RWE Innogy is taking a minority share in Quiet Revolution Ltd.

RWE announced that it invested about $12 million in Quiet Revolution, a small turbine maker in London. Quiet Revolutions' most popular product is the 6 kilowatt QR5, a vertical axis wind turbine.

"The local supply of electric power to individual buildings from renewable energy will become increasingly significant. Small wind power units on roofs can make a major contribution to this goal," said Fritz Vahrenholt, chief executive officer at RWE.

The firm is also working on commercializing triple-helix-shaped wind turbines for installation on roofs and in clusters.
