BERLIN, June 12 (UPI) -- A subsidiary of German power company RWE has acquired Spain's Urvasco Energia.

RWE Innogy's Spanish subsidiary, Agrupacio Energias Renovables, announced it acquired 100 percent of the shares of the Bilbao-based wind power operator.

Urvasco Energia owns six onshore wind farms supplying a total of 150 megawatts of power. Consequently, output from RWE-operated wind parks in Spain now totals around 350 megawatts. The wind farms are located in the regions of Aragon, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalucia.

The wind farms are in the immediate vicinity of the wind farms that belong to Agrupacio Energias Renovables. The vast majority are also equipped with the same technology, said Fritz Vahrenholt, chief executive officer of RWE Innogy.

"In expanding our wind portfolio, we pay special attention to the quality of the sites. This leads to important synergies, especially in operation and maintenance," he said.
