Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Scientists have captured a microscopic perspective of a mosquito bite and a clip of the unpleasant experience has been posted online for your enjoyment.

In the 44 second video titled, "Mosquito finds blood vessel" viewers can see the insect's pointy proboscis wriggling under the skin until it digs into a blood vessel.

Ed Yong, who posted the video on YouTube, credited Choumet et al, PLOS for the clip.

"Capillary feeding by Anopheles gambiae," Yong wrote in the description. "The proboscis is inserted along the lumen of the blood vessel."
